Far from being the original 'slacker' film, what it actually is,
is interesting. It depicts slackers attempts at love and life, and was
made by similar people on a small budget, and was a hit. It proved that
anyone, if properly motivated, can get that break... while still being
themselves.
The noteworthy thing is the cultural references. Unlike another film the
same year, this used lengthy dialogue on inane subjects to prove a
point, or to build a solid defensive argument. They're not stupid they
just base their ideas off base subjects. Through that, we can analyse
our surrounds. That's good.
