I came across this through the American remake. Somehow I managed to see
four Ring films in a fairly short period of time - they blurred into
one. That's a shame in one sense, because I'm uncertain whether I'm
talking about the original or not. Conversely, its a shame for the films
that they were so similar, I can't tell them apart.
Essentially, the story is unique and scary as heck. Even though the
premise is far from realistic, the atmosphere and ensuing events are
presented wholly in our reality.
I always wondered what would happen if you burned the tape, though.
