King Kong is the monster movie spectacle that cannot be topped. Any
other monster flick inevitably winds up compared to this one and fails
the comparison. With its jerky stop motion monkey, dinosaur and whatever
else, it packs a punch that keeps on punching.
Anyway, its just plain excellent. If you've been party to the several
remakes over the years, and have not seen the original, be prepared for a
film which does live up to the hype. Its characters are big in spirit -
no matter what their size - and the emotional notes are just as well
hit as the "scares".
