I really wasn't expecting much from Tootsie. It seemed to be a cheap way
to show a man in a dress. Couple that with a romantic comedy (which
probably has 80's synth-pop music in it) and you've got yourself a dud.
But what the film focuses on more than anything, is the characters faltering mental state. Getting close to the girl of his dreams as a
woman has dire consequences on his ability to do the same as a man. As
he gets closer, he finds more elaborate ways to perfect his womanness -
to impress her. It's confused and amusing.
