Rocky is a quiet look at a nobody, dreaming of stardom. He is the
everyman. Someone who dreams big but has neither the ability to achieve
his goals or the opportunity. As a result, he lives a pitiful life on
the extreme outskirts of the society he wishes to enter.
The film has many small, awkward moments which highlight Rocky's
inability to function both as a person and a boxer. As he rises, by
chance, through the boxing world he gains footing in both situations,
then hits a level of satisfied contentment.
Just as we all wish. He is the everyman.
